USA SCHOLARSHIPS
Collegiate Sport in the USA is a multi-billion-dollar industry. Due to the amount of funding and magnitude of collegiate sport, it allows universities/colleges to award athletic scholarships to student-athletes who in turn represent their varsity sports programmes. The scholarships are classed as a financial aid, which can help to cover the costs of a student-athlete’s tuition, room and board, and other expenses related to attending the institution.
Athletic scholarships are usually awarded by the coaches and staff of the universities/colleges, to attract highly talented athletes who are going to represent and impact their sports programmes positively, both on and off the field.
Alongside competing in their respective sport for the university/college, student athletes must meet and obtain certain academic and athletic eligibility requirements that are set by the NCAA/NAIA or other governing bodies, in order qualify for athletic and/or academic scholarship.
SOCCER SCHOLARSHIPS
Soccer Scholarships are available for both men and women at the NCAA DI, DII, NAIA, and NJCAA institutions. Although NCAA DIII schools are unable to offer soccer scholarships, they can award strong academic scholarships for athletes which can often compensate financially for athletic scholarships. Being awarded a soccer/academic scholarship, and being a student athlete will bring many positives including:
